Vacancy: Content & Website Manager (Chicago)

We’re a small, independent marketing agency located in the heart of Chicago, looking to grow our team with a new Content & Website Manager. This is a great opportunity for someone who likes collaboration as well as autonomy. We’re a small agency, which means we all roll up our sleeves and wear a lot of hats. This is a full-time position reporting to the Creative Director, Content.

The Role:

The Content & Website Manager proactively manages and facilitates updates and enhancements to all areas of our external digital communications, including website and email creation. A huge part of the role is collaboration with internal departments, including PR, social, creative, trade marketing, digital marketing and development teams, as well as external agency partners and 3rd-party vendors. Plus, you’ll need to be able to build positive relationships and partner with clients as their direct go-to for web & content needs.

Content Management & Creation:
  • Manage editorial calendars and facilitate monthly content meetings
  • Research keywords and SEO gaps to build an organic content strategy
  • Collaborate with PR and Trade Marketing teams to create effective landing pages and other website content to achieve their goals
  • Edit, proof and post content to the website
  • Write short and long-form original content as required
  • Commission content from partners and curate UGC using 3rd-party vendors such as CrowdRiff
  • Supervise Content Coordinators to ensure stellar execution of content tasks
  • Pitch in on copywriting or other content tasks as needed across the agency
  • Establish strategy for e-marketing initiatives
  • Maintain distribution lists and uphold best e-marketing practices
  • Create consumer-focused emails for clients as well as internal initiatives
  • Issue monthly reports on e-marketing initiatives
  • Hone an expert knowledge of CRM/marketing tools, including ActiveCampaign and MailChimp
SEO, Digital Data Analysis and Reporting:
  • Track performance of websites using Google Analytics and other tools
  • Establish annual KPIs and coordinate monthly reports
  • Deliver monthly reports to clients and present suggestions for optimizations
Content Strategy:
  • Evaluate websites and clearly outline areas of opportunity
  • Recommend ideal Information Architecture and content strategy improvements
  • Create implementation plan and execution recommendations

  • Four-year degree in Journalism, Marketing, Advertising or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience at a marketing agency
  • Exceptional track record of creating content and creative ideas
  • Strong knowledge of Wordpress and the ability to jump into other CMS platforms like SilverStripe
  • Extensive knowledge of digital marketing, including digital analytics, SEO, e-marketing, social marketing, CRM and personalization
  • Experience working with multiple tight deadlines; ability to juggle across multiple time zones and with remote teams
  • Stamina, flexibility and resilience
  • Tourism experience a plus
  • US Citizen in good standing
