The Kaikoura region was badly affected by a massive earthquake in late 2016. The region is heavily dependent on tourism and with roads closed and serious damage to infrastructure, visitor numbers collapsed overnight. For International Volunteers Day in December 2016 we built a website to support Kaikoura post-earthquake. The site provides a place where people can find out what’s open, and how to get to Kaikoura, and people can pay it forward to help Kaikoura businesses by purchasing a gift voucher for the Kaikoura experience of a lifetime, valid for up to two years.

The Magnificent Mile
In late 2016 we launched a new website for The Magnificent Mile. The site is designed to generate leads for Magnificent Mile businesses, and grow visitor numbers to the Magnificent Mile. The site offers a better user experience, with more ways to search for info, more useful information on things to do and see, businesses, events and more inspiration for visitors.

This website incorporates inspiring video and powerful imagery to ignite travelers’ imagination. We’ve also integrated user generated content, mapping, and stories that inspire people to visit this beautiful destination. At the heart of this site is TimeZoneOne’s bespoke operator listing tool, which integrates sophisticated listing functionality, and the option to incorporate information from suppliers like Tourism NZ, BookIt, Qualmark and TripAdvisor.

Whale Watch Kaikoura
Whale Watch Kaikoura delivers a magical marine encounter in stunning scenery. Their whale watching cruise is regularly listed as one of New Zealand’s best adventures.
We met the Whale Watch team at TRENZ a few years ago, and initially worked with them on an educational app, which helps visitors to identify individual whales. The app has been downloaded 212,277 times since launch, and is used by the local school to teach the children of Kaikoura about their environment.
In late 2015 TimeZoneOne launched a new Whale Watch website and ecommerce solution. Whale Watch deserves a digital experience that truly reflects the majesty and exhilaration of the Whale Watch encounter. Their new website uses inspiring imagery, and tells stories that link the tangata whenua, the mountains, the sea, and the creatures of the ocean. A booking funnel guides visitors to engage, learn and book.
The new site is focused on growing online bookings and is delivering on clear KPIs. It is a great privilege to partner with Whale Watch Kaikoura to help convey their rich culture. We have delivered strong growth in digital traffic and conversions.
